Sports and Competition
Among the opportunities for athletes and sports enthusiasts, as well as spectators, are beach volleyball, beach soccer, beach runs, and golf tournaments. Many amateur runners enjoy the Great Columbia Crossing, a 10KK event across the Astoria-Megler Bridge.
One of Seaside’s most popular events is annual World’s Largest Amateur Beach Volleyball tournament, held in early August. Over 1000 teams compete in this three day event. Another large event is the Hood to Coast Relay with over 12,000 runners, which starts at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood and ends at the Seaside Turnaround.
The area is rich with opportunities for non-competitive individual sports, such as kayaking, kiteboarding, surfing, and the list goes on.
